Objective: To introduce clinical manifestations and treatment of hepatitis E in pregnancy.
Methods: Thirty-nine cases of hepatitis E in pregnancy, were analysed from June. 1992 to Jun. 1994, retrospectively on its epidemiologic characteristics, clinical manifestations and prognosis.
Results: The prognosis of sporadic cases of hepatitis E in pregnancy was good and its main complications were premature rupture of membranes, uterine inertia and fetal distress.
Conclusions: Sporadic case is the main form of hepatitis E in pregnancy in Beijing. Active treatment and intensive monitoring would improve its prognosis.
