The article comprises the data on the genetic potentials of New-Hampshire cocks determined on the basis of the resistance of their offspring to the artificial infection with Salmonella gallinarum. It is shown that different cocks differ significantly from one another in their genetic potentials with respect to the resistance to Salm. gallinarum. Since the method of artificial infection can not be practiced always, it is proposed by the author to characterize the genetic potentials of animals by means of determination of the non-specific resistance index of the specimens tested.
