The authors report on 213 cases of typhoid fever observed in Abidjan (Ivory Coast) from February 1976 to February 1980. The disease, the diagnosis of which is often delayed owing to the local conditions, develops as an endemic disease. Very often, the diagnosis is based on serodiagnosis; for treatment, chloramphenicol is generally used, and total lethality due to the disease rates at 4%.
