Miyagawa and colleagues administered induced pluripotent stem cell-derived mesenchymal stem cells to a rat model of focal cerebral ischemia. These cells showed therapeutic efficacy comparable with that of human bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells and are a potential cell source alternative to conventional cell therapy.
