Highlights • The m6A modification of RNA is found to be relatively high in neurons, whereas it is noticeably low in glial cells. • As Aging occurs, the general level of m6A modification tends to decrease in the brain from 5xFAD and control mice. xFAD and WT of the same age. • There is a decrease in m6A modification around Aβ plaques, associated with a decrease in METTL3 and WTAP. • mRNA m6A methylation plays a crucial role in the regulation of microglia gene expression.
