Highlights • Prospectively explored the COVID-19 experience through participants’ own narratives. • Used journal entries to examine COVID-19’s emotional and social impacts. • Experiences were interconnected and overlapped with physical symptoms of COVID-19. • Implications for health systems to support whole-person care in COVID-19 treatment.
