This study delved into the repercussions of chronic psychosocial stress during adolescence on prefrontal cortical networks, revealing shifts in behavior, brain, and molecular markers. Utilizing a Lewis rat model, the research reports a reduction in acoustic startle reflex and social interactions, coupled with elevated extracellular free water content and TACE/ADAM17 mRNA levels in the medial prefrontal cortex under chronic psychosocial stress conditions. Employing automated observational cages alongside statistical data transformation facilitated a deeper understanding of stress‐induced alterations, and discovered new roles for prefrontal cortical TACE/ADAM17.
